I was looking through some pennies today and I cam across what semms to look like a 1999 Wide AM. Just wanted to get everyones opinion...thanks for your help! -Pennyman
I thought the space between the A and M should be about the same as the space between the M and E.....
A clear, straight on image would confirm it. A genuine wide AM will "pop" out at you, so there should be no question when examining the coin in person. Going only on what I can see, no.
That FG looks like a close AM though Have you looked at http://www.lincolncentresource.com/wideams.html
I agree it does look like a close AM. Here's a little better picture to confirm it...thanks again for your input. I totally forgot about the designers initials to confirm it. I mostly deal with double dies and wheat penny variations.
Are you are using a small handheld USB mircoscope? If so, try to block off a few of the LEDs using a cut piece of paper. This should cut down on the glare and give somewhat better image results.
On a WAM the FG should be closer to the memorial, looks like a normal CLAM to me. Sometimes that little gap shows between the A and the M on a CLAM.
