Attached is a picture of a 1951D Penny. The 5 in the date looks to not be complete, as if it was smudged when being made. Could this be a die break?
if it were an error, as in it being a filled 5. would this have any value, enough to send to get it graded?
the 5 on this coin, looks like the 5 on mine.http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-COIN-LOT-..._Individual&hash=item416357eaab#ht_681wt_1031
For future reference, a clogged letter or number is NOT a CUD error like you mention in your auction.
This is not my auction, I'm not selling my coins. I simply asked for an opinion on what people thought it was.
Ahh, it's too blurry to tell if it's a clogged die or PMD. The fact that that area of the 5 is "brighter" could mean it's damaged and fresh copper is showing.
Only a few cents to a dollar. Those are common. I even have one from the 1980s so they're still out there.
Filled devices on 1950's and 1960's cents are very common. No added premium but if it's your's keep it for fun.
