Hi everyone. I'm new here got my first box of halves last week and pulled 3 40% and a silver plated 86 and 87unc (so i been told). Anyway I got a box coming in today and was wondering if there are key coins I should be looking for besides the silver?

Thanks HOTN - This latest streak has tried my resolve. I just try to take all of this in stride. Like I've said...when it stops becoming fun, it's time to hang it up. I still enjoy it, and maybe I'm a glutten for punishment but each day I feel like: 'Today is the day it turns around!'

So....TODAY IS THE DAY IT TURNS AROUND! NO MORE SKUNKS, NO MORE SKUNKS, NO MORE SKUNKS!!!

I'm going to do a chant...

I need to find some silver!
I need to find some silver!
I need to find some silver!

Three is all it should take and hopefully it drives away the Skunk from this Loomis box I'll be picking up in a "halve" hour.

Well, I guess the chant worked. I went through 30 rolls so far just taking my time since it is such a nice day out. In about the 7th roll there was a silver 1968. I was weary even pulling it out figuring it would be one of those plated clad coins, but nope, it was actually a silver coin. So I guess my theory of Loomis not putting any silver in MY boxes is now busted....lol The things I think sometime while going through a bad skunk streak amuse me. I'm up to a whopping .45 oz of silver for the month. Maybe the silver gods will provide me with another in the last 20 rolls, one can always hope.

$3 in loose halves had nothing but I did pick up a '77 Ike... don't really know why I'm buying those but I figure the worse that could happen is I'm saving dollars in a drawer for a rainy day.

Box of nickels; more marked with K, including a nice XF-AU '54-S... that straight up ****ed me off. No wars, did pull a polished '36 buff that was probably XF prior to said polishing.

2x box of dimes, 3 roosies and another '41 Merc.

Will dump on my lunch tomorrow and pick up either three or four boxes of halves depending on how much cash I have after I pick u some Ikes my dump bank has ($125 worth). Then I'll get either four or five boxes Sunday... this is a big push to try and break my skunk streak, if it doesn't work, I don't know what I'm gonna do... drop the volume real low and focus on other stuff for a while, I suppose.

  17. Another box of $500 in dime this morning gave me 4 rossies and then I went to dump the box and couldn't believe what I saw at the teller's change there where some halves with silver edge so I got them they were 6 1966er's very clean those are my first halves found in the counter. And I still have 500 in dimes at home waiting for me

Well my regular half boxes this week yielded very little. Picked up 1 '64 and two 40%. Dumped those today and bought a couple dime boxes and a box of quarters. The dimes were nil, however I found this 1920 one shilling coin in the quarter box. When I first saw the edge I thought it might be another standing liberty quarter but, this was a neat find in any case. My kids had fun looking it up on the net.

$1000 of boxed quarters, no silver but 22 bicentennials. While I was there my favorite teller told me that an older man brought in coin rolls of pennies and nickels that he said he had stored for 30 years. I bought them all :) ended up with about $46 of pennies and nickels. the newest coin in them was 1980, so I guess they were 30 years old :)! 14 of the penny rolls were solid wheat pennies! and the rest were all copper. This totally made my whole day :) it made my week! Tomorrow I have off school and am planning a road trip to hunt for more silver halves! (last week I got 14 silver halves when I had off haha)!

  21. I got home already and my other box of dimes gave me 5 more rossies and 4 from my earlier box =9 + 3 from yesterday = 12 rossies in two days I think march is going to be good
