Hey guys, just thought I'd tell you I finished a set, but will have to keep upgrading a lot of these. Lincoln Cents 1941-1958 and Memorial Cents 1959-1964 Going to be looking for upgrades for a lot of the cents in here. The Phillies are going to all be proof (Someday) Already got the 1957 and 1960-1963 down.
Pretty cool, really like the red and toned cents. Was also wondering, I know that coins tone in the colored folders. Do you think the cents will tone a weird color after awhile?
I'm not sure with the Whitman albums, but I heard the Danscos will give wild toning. Here's a toned proof I just put into it: The fields have a hazed toning while the devices have a pinkish toning to it. Compare it to this one:
OK. My Duh. But I'm going to ask. What do you mean, the Philadelphia's are all going to be proof someday? Were the proofs minted in Philly for awhile? What years? When I see proof, I think S mint's. Reason I ask, I may have a few that you need. Not sure though. Won't charge you anything. Need to move em out the door.
For my Holes. I'm going to change out the Philly mints with proofs rather than Uncirculated. Also... I'm listening...
I'll see if I can find those cents tomorrow, I have them somewhere. Quite a few still in the cello. A few in 2x2's. I'll look and see what I have.
Just thought I'd mention that you are not upgrading when you replace a circulating coin with a proof. They are two completely different coins. I would suggest getting a coin album that better protects your coins, and lists both circulation and proof coins in them. That way you will better protect your investment, and they will be all in one location. Besides, nothing looks worse than a nice proof coin with a big, greasy thumb print on it!
Hey, That's pretty good! I'm collecting 1857-Present cents along with 1883-Present Nickels. I myself still need to find a 1955-S, which seems to be my special rare coin. Could I possibly take yours?
nice one. I am currently trying to complete my War nickel set, and after that i am going to start with my one cents. Thinking about buying one like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1940-2011-L..._Individual&hash=item53ebd42987#ht_500wt_1413 but then again, that would be cheating, and is not as fun as searching coin by coin
Nice job cazka!!! That's one thing I really like about albums. Even though they are all the same type within the album, you can look at it and see all the various colors. very neat.
I'd get one of these: #8100 Lincoln Cents, 1909 - Present, Including Proof - $36.95 Each http://www.coins4me.com/coin_supplies/dansco_albums/dansco_coin_albums.htm
Nice colors, the brown Lincoln cents sometimes gives off a rainbow like toning. Don't know if its from the albums but the proofs tones nicely too. Ever thought about putting a toned cent set together? I would think it wouldn't cost too much.
Ice, I have a few toned lincolns, but haven't decided to put them in a set yet. As for the Danscos, I haven't decided to pull the trigger to get both Proof and UNC coins together, so I am just going to do Proofs rather than UNC so I can have a happiness all of my own. And let's face it, it is a set that I am liking by myself. Everything else is going to be MS63 or above. This was a very fun project and I am off to the next one: Jefferson Nickels 1939-1960 Housed in a Tri-Fold. The fun thing will be with only a few exceptions, all of the coins in that album are going to be my circulation finds. Just missing the early dates and the 50-D and 55. The nickels will have priority over the upgrade cents but if I can get a nice upgrade in the cents, I'll shoot it first.
You got that right. It's the same with restoring cars. You just do not get the same experience buying something already done, and you certainly don't learn anything either! Buy yourself a blank album, or as they call it in car terms: a fix-er-upper.
You know Caz. your project is giving me an idea. I might try for a toned lincoln set, or at least the ones with good eye appeal. All from circulation too.
