Anyone else collect seated dimes? I'm slowly attempting a near-complete set in VF or better..so far I have about 50 coins. Its expensive and tedious, but I love the seated liberty design, and the dimes are the most affordable set.

Working on 2 sets one ms 64/65 and one in au58 in the Fortin varieties both are secondary sets but I always keep an eye out for them.

Neither set will ever be completed due to the big 4 CC's

It looks like Koinjester & Drunknumismatic have a common collecting interest. I look forward to seeing photos of your coins.

I have a number of the 1837 and 1838-O no-stars that I have collected over the years. Most of them are AU. Which of these two 1837s do you prefer?

Half dimes are easier. (Excluding the 70-S of course. But on the other hand the dimes has the 73-CC no arrows. So that sounds like a tie. :) ) One of these days I'll get the last three I need.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I really like the Liberty seated design and really like the dimes too. I have a few. I think the first ones with the plain fields are cool. This is my best one. NGC MS-63.

I built most of the set and started looking at what it would cost to complete it. Used that same money for other stuff. Always liked this one.

Those are all great looking coins, even the worn ones!

I like the old US coins that didn't have the phrases "In God We Trust" "Liberty" and 'E Pluribus Unim" on them. Anyone else feel that way?
I just think there was more room for design purposes.

    Same coin & same grade

    Yep.
The PCGS coin was pretty dark so I asked NCS if they could lighten it up. Hindsight is always 20-20. Now the coin looks much brighter and is in the NGC holder. It is the same coin & same grade. If I had it to do over again, I probably would have left it alone or conserved it myself. -No prejudice to NCS as IMO they do a great service.

I've got about 10 of the no star dimes with different date styles & O mint marks. Through the magnifying glass I pretend they are Gobrecht dollars. :D

Not too many choices for coins without LIBERTY, there are only five types. FE cent, two cent piece, three cent silver, Shield nickel, and President dollar.
