Wow. Such lame offerings! All I see are silver dollars? Where are the -Commen. half dollars? - Non-Silver Commen. Coins?
Also. I noticed on eBay some of the sets such as the ATB quarter sets are DCAM, and some are not. Is it basically luck of the draw whether or not you get a dcam?
It depends on which side of the bed those guys woke up on in the morning. To me? They all seen DCAM, especially with the computer enhanced way of production now employed by the mint.
Does anyone actually buy stuff direct from the mint?, I'm not much into modern stuff, but to each is their own.
Too bad only a couple of the modern commemorative half dollars are 90% silver. I'd buy extras if they offered 90% silver halves. Speaking of 90% silver, what do you all think of the mint proposing to change the silver proof sets to .999 fine? I don't like it - ruins the nostalgia of getting them in historical composition. And, even though the mint says they'll save money switching to .999, they say the price will go up due to the added silver. *!@#$%^&*(
Their stated shipping times are 1-2 weeks. The guberment is infamous for being slow, but is it really that slow? Do they give you a tracking number?
The stated delivery times are just to cover their hinneys. Most products ordered show up within a weeks time (when in stock). I just ordered the "Star Spangled" dollars (went on sale this past Monday) and have just received notice that they have been shipped.
Do they use tracking? Also someone told me says on occasion you get fliers from them with the option of getting a coin lower than the site price, is this true?
Tracking is through FDX and the Postal Service. It's adequate as long as the shippment is within FDX jurisdiction....... 'real time tracking'. Once it's handed off to the Postal service the tracking lags, but at that point the package is usually resting at my door step. As for the fliers stating lower prices than what's published on the web site? Never seen 'em......
I should not of meant that. I mean an "introductory" price. An offer available to only those who have ordered before.
They've never offered anything like that to me, and I order quite often. [edit] Quite often the mint will make available an offering at an introductory price, which, after a period of time, will increase to the full retail price. Everyone who visits the mint site is able to purchase the item at the introductory price. Case in point.....The star spangled silver dollar is now currently available at the 'introductory price' of $44.95 but after April 5th the price goes up to $49.95.
TOOK a look at the post Detecto posted. Wow. Such lame posts! All I see is simple to find questions? Where are the -informative posts? -thought out. Real questions? -helpful reply's to other posts. In all serious, I have avoided most of your over 600 posts and I am pretty easy to get along with. But if you pause a bit before posting in the future I think you will get better responses as your questions will be better. And people will take more times to hope you along your coin journey. I post this because I have a love fore the US Mint. And complaining that they are not ALL DCAM's is crazy as they keep making our coins better and better. And complaining "where are all the..." is crazy as our mint sets used to have what 5 coins in it and now there's 14!! Plus TONS of coins to pick from. I mean I can't even name them all.
