No, that was VERDI-GONE, not VERDI-CARE. Nonetheless, it made me laugh because VG would have definately been 100% undetectable using their instrument. It was a completely different formulation.

Does it matter what the formulation is ? I thought the point of the whole thing was merely to detect foreign substances on the coin. Any foreign substances.

Here is the first time, I believe, that I've used VERDI-CARE. Badthad asked me if he could use the pics for advertising or promotional pics which I said yes. This 1988-P with reverse of 1989 really needed it and it still looks much better in hand
than in the pictures.
zeke

I found out that I could not load down the pic that I wanted because it was a tiff 21.3mb. But you all still get the benefit of seeing what using Verdi-Care can do. I was not very gentle with this cent as you can tell. I don't believe that I ruined it though.

Analytical chemistry is not magic, I know, I do it every single working day. They cannot detect something that is not there. VG was designed to leave behind nothing, and that's what it did.....complete and total evaporation.

That's the part you had never made clear, thus my question.

BadThad - will the Verdi-Care do much to remove the black tarnish on old, circulated silver coins? I have some circulated ones that were improperly stored in a box ages ago, and some have become pretty tarnished.

Sorry, no it won't. You have to use an acid-thioureas dip to remove that.

Thanks! I may just leave them as is.
