Popped this 1911 Wheatie out of roll today, along with a 34, and some 40's. Still got about 20 rolls left.
How common are the King George VI Canadian cents for you guys? Here in Chicago, I am finding one about every 3 or 4 boxes. The oldest I have found is 1938.
Well... I'm pretty close to Windsor, but they're pretty common here. I save all Canadians 1959 and prior (kinda like wheats, but a year later). Total of 68 Cent Boxes searched: 1938 George VI 1 1940 George VI 6 1941 George VI 2 1942 George VI 3 1943 George VI 5 1944 George VI 3 1945 George VI 4 1946 George VI 5 1947 George VI 5 1947 Leaf George VI 2 1949 George VI 4 1950 George VI 8 1951 George VI 4 1952 George VI 5 1953 Eliz II 9 1954 Eliz II 1 1955 Eliz II 9 1956 Eliz II 11 1957 Eliz II 16 1958 Eliz II 10 1959 Eliz II 8 That's 1.7794 Pre-1960 Canadian per box for me. Canadian coinage is pretty common here in southeast MI. EDIT: I've found 1 George V cent, 1934 or 1935 I think, but that was before I started keeping my spreadsheet.
Very cool! I grew up in Hazel Park and Oxford in the early 1970's. Canadian coins were very common then. I really love the King George cents. I would love to find a George V cent in a roll...
found my first 2009 DDR today. Not sure which one it is yet, Ill have to look. You can see the extra between the thumb and index finger. Here it is Wexler WDDR-001 Coneca DDR-002 Coppercoins 2009-1DR-017 Crawford CDDR-002 CPG FS-01-2009-803
I recently did $4 BWRs and only got 4 coppers. That was insanely low. I usually get about 20% copper around here not 4%.
1 box of Pennies 642 copper ( not counting any 82's that might be) 13 wheats (29D oldest) 8 Canadian cents
Picked up $100 worth of pennies a few weeks ago. Been through the 1st 2 boxes and there hasn't been a single copper cent in any of the rolls, guess I got someone elses machine sorting dump. I'm still going through them to search post 1982 error cents, but kinda sucks to not accumulate any copper in the process.
Saw this thread's been revived. Thought I'd update my Canadian findings. Show a few months worth of finds. Again, I save 1959 and before in Canadian. My last post, I had done 68 boxes of cents. I'm now at 93 boxes. I track 1967, 1992, and 2002 Canadian, but I don't really save them anymore. But I live pretty close to Canada. My wheat finds are obviously higher than that. 1079 wheats in those 93 boxes.
I find that the King Georges aren't very common. I don't keep track of how many per box but I would put them on par with 20's and earlier wheats. I did get a roll of CWR's a while back that was about three quarters full of Georges, some in AU and XF. Apparently somebody dumped their collection. I was happy to take em.:smile
Posted this in the roll searchers thread about a month ago, then realized that all they talk about in there is silver. Found my first 1999 WAM! Unfortunately it has some oxidation and crud on it, but it's pretty nice otherwise.
Hmm. check out what I found as soon as I opened a box of cents today... I almost had to change my pants! I ended up finding 137 wheats and 6 indian heads!!!
Found a lot of American Wheats & Canadian Georges VI. Found a '44 George. Also found 2 Georges V. One 1930 about F-12 I would say and a nice 1936. Plus a lot of copper. Probably post a more detail list of what I have found since I have started.
Three hunts; 12 rolls of pennies each First Hunt: 4 Wheaties, 1 Canadian Second Hunt: 5 Wheaties, 3 Canadians Third Hunt: 2 Wheaties
