the walker is my fav but it's been done with the ASEs. the walker eagle is way better but then it would be an exact copy. i guess next i would like to see something in the Merc design. i allways liked them but they are just so small.
I have to second that. Whether they should be brought back or not is another question, but as for pure asthetic appeal, these two are by far my favorites! Great Pics LindeDad!
I would have to say the most beautiful design is Seated Liberty, but I don't think it would make a great commemorative. I think it would be cool to see the Flying Eagle design in circulation, as someone else before me mentioned.
The Peace Dollar, by far. Perhaps the Standing Liberty quarter, but I'm ashamed to say I've never seen a really good example of it in real life. I'm basing it all on photographs.
The Peace dollar is a stunning coin. I just love the design. After the Barber series and Morgan dollars...finally, Liberty is hot! <jk> Seriously, Eagle finally looks like a real bird. The problem was in manufacturing, as a result of design. High points opposite one another. Metal flow sucked. High relief just wasn't working out. The '21 was minted for just a few days before the end of the year and everyone panicked. It didn't strike well, it didn't stack well, dies were cracking right and left. Serious changes were needed quickly. Sadly, relief was adjusted, striking pressure reduced, and later years just didn't measure up. A shame. Here are a few '21's to celebrate the Peace dollar, introduced to celebrate victory in the war to end all wars. Yeah, right. Lance. A 66, MS and XF
Yours? Dime? 1894-S? Or a stock picture? Any direction it goes, I am a fan of the barber series :hail:
Isn't the Mint thinking about using some or all of the Mercury Dime design for the Palladium Eagles (if they end up making them)?
I agree with Coppermania, it has got to be this one: The Flying Eagle cent. I could not think of a coin which carries such (simple yet) powerful symbols of what, at least to me, America is all about: freedom and indomitable spirit symbolized by the eagle, rewards and plenty symbolized by the wreath. This is my only example of this beautiful coin.
