I was happy to get this from my teller about a week ago, I just haven't had the time to get it posted on CT: Any speculations on it? It does read that it is redeemable for gold! I guess it's a bit late to go to the treasury and turn it in for some gold, huh? It is now my oldest bill along with my 1928A $1 funyback that I purchased from a coin dealer along time ago.
If you check out RP4409 over on Utube, they still show up at the front gate at the Federal Reserve and give em heck LOL! OK Tbud I've got a couple of mine I'm willing to part with! Lets do this! BTW: I scored my $100 during a coin auction (Mostly Morgans, and some Copper) for a little over face! Not 1:1 like you - all heck no! That would be the day...
Nice pickup Travis. I have a few 1928's that say that as well. Too bad you can't redeem it for gold these days.
Nice $100 Bill tbudwiser. I picked up this $100 bill in shipment of paper money to a local bank from the Federal Reserve back in 1990. Has a completely blank back (blank reverse), series 1990 in uncirculated condition.
Naaa I would say XF to AU? They have slight creases from teller counting. I would need to dig up and verify the $50 and check for a center fold. But who cares, were cashing them in for gold coinage! Heck what's on an ounce of bullion? $50, and $20 for a half. Do the math!
I did send it to CGA in 2010 and they graded it as follows. I never knew if this Choice Uncirculated 63 grade was good or bad, or what it might be worth. Is there an Error section/forum on Cointalk that I could ask these questions?
I just noticed your location, Jones. I was born and raised in Providence. I miss it, but like FL better. Never have to shovel 8 inches of partly cloudy here. Really nice note, too. I would love to own that.
Nice note and it is a decent grade for such a large error. As for your question about a specific error note section, no there is not, but we error collectors can give any information you might be seeking on notes such as this.
Travis' (tbud) note is from Series 1928A. I got this $100 1934A note from the bank today. The teller was counting out some hundreds for me and I saw this old one and said I wanted it. She said "Are you serious?", lol. Of course I was serious, she was probably used to customer's not wanting old notes. It's not as good a find as Travis' but it is now the oldest note I have found in circulation. Prior to this find my oldest note from circulation was a $2 1953 Red Seal from two weeks ago.
Yes, it is Series and 1928A and not 1990. I sure hope the 1990 comment was a joke. Thanks for clearing it up, Russell (NOS). Very nice $100. The only thing that is nicer about yours is the circumstances in which you acquired it. I got mine from a teller that purposely looks for things like these and gives them to me. Russell, you got yours out of luck; being in the right bank with the right teller at the right time. That's cool.:thumb: -Travis or tbud, whatever you feel like calling me.
Hey rickmp, I still love the Northeast and wouldn't trade it for the FL heat. However my brother agreeds with you and moved to Jacksonville, FL over 50 years ago.
