Attached is a story from a local newspaper. A 1929 $20 bill was donated to the local historical society. The story goes on to say that the bill is worth over $100,000. The only problem is this exact bill sold on the heritage website in 2004 for $2,300. Either the writer took someone at their word without checking facts or just made up a number to get their story on the front page. Just goes to show that most people have no clue about the things we collect. http://www.orovillemr.com/ci_20052381
Sure hope they aren't trying to claim a tax write off on $100k donation. Maybe you should contact the local historical society and point them to the note's value history according to HA's records.
There is no way that note is 100K! Even if they made only a hand full. It surprises me how much '29 NBN's go for, their not even as beautiful as the large nationals. I know looks don't dictate their value, but please a 1875 first charter is so much cooler!
Maybe the entire value of all that the guy donated was $100,000.00 but that note by itself is not worth that much.
