Hello all I am new here and new to coin collecting. I noticed this today in my pocket change and was wondering is this what is referred to as a die crack. The back of this coin is perfectly normal. The coin is perfectly flat although not shown in this photo the side with LIBERTY is noticeably raised. Any information on this coin would
be very much appreciated. Thanks, Robert

Not sure from the pic, but my immediate reaction is it doesn't look authentic for a die crack/cud, etc. Looks like there is glue on it.

    I can't tell, either...but I love it if it's a real die crack!

Absolutely not glue that is in the metal. It obscures the Y.

Ok, better pics the second time. Can you get a pic that is not blurry though?

Lamination peel of that large section with LIBERTY on it? The OP said "the side with LIBERTY is noticeably raised."

From the blurry pics, it looks like glue. Need sharper pics and a close up of the edge of the "crack".

Will take out my tripod later more pics to come. I can tell you its not glue 100% It is the metal in the coin itself.

Looks like PMD to me from those pics.

I would think if it was a PMD the back of the coin would show some damage, or the coin itself would have to be deformed or warped in some way. How could a tear of this magnitude take place without the coin being warped it lays perfectly flat.

If it really is a delamination, the reverse can look fine.

We won't know until you post reverse side pics.

Until then, my initial assessment is PMD, from the pics you've posted.
