Thoughts on this St. Gaudins?

Here is a specimen I have the opportunity to purchase in the near future. It is a 1907 high relief wire rim, advertised as being in uncirculated condition. This particular seller always oversells things and I know that there has been some problems with coins from the same owner regarding cleaning and damage issues, making me even more concerned that it isn't slabbed.

What kind of grade do you guys feel is appropriate? Thoughts on cleaning or any other possible problems?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments.

No comment on that coin but I'd keep your other gold coins that you posted earlier and not even worry about buying this saint

Thanks, 99% chance I'll be passing on this one, I just don't think it's worth the price they're asking.

Looks to have been lightly polished... Possibly with a polish cloth.

There's a reason it's still raw. My guess is that a cleaning or polishing was done.

I make it a rule to never buy raw gold.

I think that if you are asking these questions, you should not be buying these coins.

Expensive gold coins with problems are a minefield in the best of circumstances. Going into that minefield (essentially) blind is a disaster in the making, IMO.

Respectfully submitted hoping to save you a lot of money with the blunt hard facts of the coin game....Mike

I appreciate and understand the honesty Mike. I was extremely wary of this particular coin and felt it had been cleaned upon first seeing it, just wanted to share it on here. If anyone is curious the opening bid on this coin was around 5000$, I'd be suprised if it could bring 5500-6500 in a retail setting. It really upsets me that this particular seller has a history of flat out lieing about the rarity, value, and condition of their coins. I wouldn't be suprised if they are ignorantly ruining the values themselves, its a sad thing.
