Personally - I would not slab this coin. The cost would be as much as the coin is worth itself. I would grade this coin as VF.
No reason to pay someone to grade that coin. Grading circulated coins isn't all that hard. (in person. From a photo is another story) I can see why someone would buy that coin, though. It looks like it is original and undamaged.
When to slab or not? All key dates should be certified. All heavily counterfeited coins. (not always the same) All condition rarity coins. For great protection and the ability to view easily, purchase some Airtites. At around a $1 a piece they are great.
yeah i just looked in the red book 2004 edition and AU50 was 160 usd thats why i asked i wasint sure what grade it would make if it made au50 then it would be worth getting slabbed as it stands like you say its only worth 15 usd. regards jimmy
well i bought that coin and a 1921 morgan together for 12.50 uk about 20 usd so not to bad realy, i can see that the bargains/money to be made in this game though is in buying at low grade getting slabbed to high grade then selling on. i realy need to get studying
