i live in canada and i have rolls of us coins, should i trade it for canadian since the usd been down for a while? or should i just keep it till the usd gets stronger?
Do what you want, do you have a collection of us coins or have an intrest in them? If you do keep them, if you don't exchange them.
I've held a handful of canadian silver for decades. Now that I'm once again active in the hobby, these coins survived my purge, as I reorganized my collection. It must have been karma since I now find a select RCM's offerings very eye appealing. I'm talking about proofs and limited editions but I have also thought about adding some bullion coins. There are bullion stackers on this site that love maple leafs, moose, polar bear, cougar and other 1 ounce canadian silver as much as the American Silver Eagle. The same can be said about gold stackers and collectors. I say hold the US coins.:thumb:
Hold on to them. Unless you don't want to collect US coins, having coins from other parts of the world is pretty cool.
Canada is linked at the hip with the U.S. economy.. I don't think the Canadian dollar will ever be worth more then the U.S. dollar by more then a few cents for short periods of time. Off topic: How often do Canadians find U.S. coins in change? I live in Maine and see Canadian quarters on down pass in change all the time, even get it at the bank
I live in New Hampshire and get tons of them when i roll search, anyone in canada wanna sell me a coin and ill mail you a couple hundred in canadian coins?
around 1/3 of coins in canada are american now adays, we see alot more american coins here ever since the usd been weak back in the days everyone use to collect the us coins and bring them back to the states to spend to get more per buck, now adays no1 wants the us coins, i've recently been coin roll hunting and i find full rolls of us coins.
I usually find Canadian cents and nickels while roll searching, as they are the same diameter as U.S. coins of the same denomination.
i find about 10-15 canadian cents per box. to the op i would hold onto them until you can exchange for a higher rate or save them for your collection
1/3!! wow.... Canada having a smaller population it would make since that a larger % of American coins would be in Canada then Canadian coins in the U.S. I would put Canadian coins at less then 1/10 here in Maine. One more question. Does U.S. Paper money circulate in Canada?
With the current ratio 1.0002 USD = 1.0000 CAD, there is really no real difference for small amounts.
