You have to admit that the coin in the picture is not the coin that was sent and that alone suggests foul play considering i specifically asked for photos of the coin that was going to be sent. I simply gave my opinion of hull, i no way shape or form have blasted him. When someone asks for a picture of the coin to be sent and you send them a stock pic, that is morally wrong in my opinion.
It's an U.S. Mint, blue pack uncirculated. XF you would find an circulated coins. We've already established the stronger possibility how the mark on the jaw got there.
I changed the holder and i think the hit on the jaw may have been on the backside of the old holder. I also took a pic under my 10x loop i dont think it was on the coin, maybe the holder.
5 bucks. who cares. if five bucks is going to drive you nuts, coin collecting is not the hobby for you.
Ohhh yea im not mad or anything actually i changed the holder and the mark on the jaw was actually a mark on the back side of the holder. I owe hull an apology.
I bought a 1971 s silver Ike for 10 dollars. It wasn't in as good a condition as yours, but I had just read an article about Ike's that said they're not worth much more than melt unless perfect and that doesn't seem to add much more value from what I've seen. The guy was asking 15.00 I countered with 8.00 and he wouldn't go below 10. Melt was around 10.57 at the time. I just wanted the silver but the coin is still nice. I like Ike's especially at a decent price.
Some very high grade business strikes and some variety's can get pricey, the silver ones out of the blue uncirculated mint packaging are easy to find in high grade. My thoughts are of completing a whole album for the kids of high grade ikes while they are still cheap.
You do indeed. Just read over this whole thread and even without the mark, I doubt that the coin is worth sending in. Ike's just aren't in demand enough to justify sending them in, IMHO.
Here is what I don't understand. You paid $18 for a coin that was probably worth $14-$16 (I know I said before $11-$13 but they tend to go for a couple more dollars in the original package). The coin sounds like it was sold to you as UNC...which it is and the photo wasn't that great. You had a chance to see the photo and knew the price. You could have asked for a better photo or negotiated the price and you chose not to. You overpaid a couple dollars for the coin because you didn't do these things...and frankly the price you paid is not an unusual price in a random coin shop. You didn't get a steal but you certainly didn't get ripped off. Then, you took the coin out of the packaging and probably lost a couple resale dollars by doing so. IMHO, the seller didn't do anything wrong. So, you overpaid by a few dollars. You win some and you lose some...it's not the end of the world.
