Most recent addition to my newly started Barber half collection.

I think I may have over paid for this coin by a little bit, I want to get some opinions on the value of it, then I will reveal what I paid.

Hopefully I don't shoot myself in the foot for this one :x

It's threading the needle between VG-8 and F-10. You can see almost a full liberty, and all the letters on the reverse legend. $20?

maybe $20-$25. I base this number off of a regular barber. I'm guessing you paid $40.

I think it's F12 but I don't like the rim at 5-6 on the reverse or the marks on her head. I'm going to say you paid $60 because of the marks

  6. I agree with Yacorie. The mark at 6 o'clock bothers me, but it is still a better date. It's at the very edge of F12. Although it does look like it has an original patina to it. I won't give a valuation, because I pay too much sometimes anyways for nice Barber Halves. :D

Man, I knew I over paid but didn't think it was that bad, paid $90 for it. I don't mind though, I like the coin and the series plus it fills a spot in my collection. And I will be keeping the coin for a long time so maybe the value will go up.

You should be price comparison shopping before spend 100% more than you should be. Check completed ebay auctions or ask here before buying.

I'd love to have customers like you.

That's okay, you live and you learn. And you do like the coin. Next time do some price comparisons and don't be afraid to consult with your team of experts on here to help you with the grade before you pull the trigger.

I did buy it on ebay, and the seller accepts returns. If I sent it back within the next few days it would still land within the 14 day window.

Now I'm thinking I should send it back. Would the rest of you do the same?

Are you happy with it? Are you strapped for cash? If not, I'd say keep it, learn from it and enjoy it regardless of price.

I was excited to get it, and think its a nice coin. But now that I know I payed way too much for it, I'm not so excited to own it.

I think I'm going to return it.

Well thats not a great idea because if he could send it back and get 4 of that same coin and save maybe $5, which one sounds better :)

I think it would be wise for you to check some price guides and know if a certain date is a key/semi-key before you make remarks like this.

Completed auction for similar coins of the same date and mint show prices ranging from $45-$70, meaning he could only afford ONE, not FOUR. I don't think the OP did great, but he could have done worst.

I think it might be nice if you accepted that you have a nice coin, that's enjoyable to look at, and that you still have some things to learn about the new series you're collecting.

You know...as opposed to backing out on a commitment you've made, and running back to the seller because you found out later you made a decision out of ignorance.

Without viewing another comment, I can almost guarantee the coin'd get an F12 out at PC or NGC.

Standards have really sunk over the course of TPGs being around when it comes to "LIBERTY" needing to be legible.

    Solid coin. :)

Well when I sad my original price of $20-25, I did say for a regular barber half but yeah, I still should have checked the mintages, BUT if his sold for $45, then he could still get 2 :)

  21. Mintage has little to do with it.
