That's interesting. I talked with the head of the ANS earlier this year and mentioned my concern about bringing some very rare Roman bronze coins in my collection to ANS headquarters for further study. She mentioned that there was no crime to worry about in New York City. I heard that there was but was wondering if the news accounts were just overly sensationalized.

As you know the ANS headquarters is moving out of New York to Chicago. Has the ANS been in NYC ever since its founding in 1858?

Friends are twisting my arm to go to FUN. But I remember going some years and not finding a single coin to buy. I will probably go, expecting to be disappointed but maybe I can find some people to yak with?

I think that the ANS has been in New York City since it was founded in 1858.

FUN will have over 600 dealers. It’s hard to believe that you will find nothing unless your want list is filled with seldom seen rarities, or extremely common material. The dealers, who have to come a distance, don’t bring the low priced, bulky material.

I would happily attend any show that I can afford both the time and money to do so.

Regardless of which show you attend, try not to attend the last
day. Most dealers are gone and the ones left aren't in any hurry
to give price breaks. This advice is for any medium to large show.

That is completely true. This happened to me when my flight was delayed and I arrived at a major show at noon the day BEFORE it was slated to end.

At this time the dealers were packing up and all of the majors had already taken down any items for display.
