Bought a lot today. The most I've spent since I started collecting. Spent almost $300 Cash and $200 In Trade Value I REALLY wanted to buy a 1931-s Cent ($150) but saw it too late. Very nice rainbow toning too. However I do have $300 coming in from paypal.. once it clears.. so I'll be back. I do good business with Louie, run a website and advertise for him so I get amazing deals. 1838 Coronet Cent 1877 Seated Liberty Quarter 1893 Columbian Half 1925 Lexington Half ICG - MS63 1936-S Oregon Half PCGS - MS65 1936 (FB?) $200 trade and it was actually only $280 cash for the rest of the collection because I left with $40 still in hand. I probably could have done without the cent/quarter/columbian but I really want to have 1 of every type of coin in my collection. Thanks guys! Appreciate it. I got into his stash. He knows I like Morgans and always brings those out for me but this time I asked him for smaller denominations and picked out the penny. Glad I asked, still tons of boxes I haven't gone though.
That's incredible, seeing as how the MS65 Oregon will comprise most of that $500 budget. Outstanding negotiating!
I ought to try negotiating lol. I just ask him how much for this and he gives me his bottom. Sometimes half of what he has it priced for. Then when I traded/sell I give him my bottom. I brought him some gold recently, he offered $440 and I took $400 and said return the favor next time. So we work around each other like that. Or if I send him a great deal ($11000 pawn a few weeks back) he pays me in coins which he obviously bought for much less, rather then cash. He makes a lot of money just off of my advertising and he's mentioned he's doing much more business now then before I started.
It appears that there is some PVC residue on the lincoln cent, I would sure remove that and see if there is aany underlying damage. Jim
No, don't use a needle. I am talking about the tiny deep green "drop" appearing dots on the coat and under the date. Appear green and shiney in the magnified photo. If it is a color aborration than I withdraw the comment, but it appeared to be PVC. Use acetone to remove it, not a physical object.
http://coins.about.com/od/caringforcoins/ht/pvc_damage.htm Would you suggest that cleaning method? They actually have mass, not just color aberration. Would it devalue the coin at all?
I think so too! I was very happy with what I paid for the lot. I guess it helps to befriend the dealer.
