Our secretary at work brought these in to show me today. The morgan dollar has had that Santa Claus sticker on it since 1944. And it is an 1895-O !!! It's worn pretty good but it's almost enough to bring a tear to my eye. Only positive is that lady liberty has not been touched in 68 years. 1921-D, 1922, 1895-O and 1926-S
wow did you offer her anything for it???? still quite collectable. but in her mind its probably priceless if its been in the family thanks for sharing
She is'nt selling them anytime soon. Told her that removing the sticker with acetone would probably increase it's value a little.
This is the only website that I visit where I am met with rude people. Don't know why anyone would bother ..
A solvent for removing trolls? Removing the sticker may not help it much. If the stacker has been there for almost 70 years you may find you now have a darkly toned dollar with a lightly toned Santa Claus shaped splotch on the obverse.
"This is the only website that I visit where I am met with rude people. Don't know why anyone would bother .." well I bother and have had a most amazing and intellectual time!!
DaveMN why did you just send me this PM? "Hey, if you have something to say to me then say it. Don't hide behind your stupid comments. You EDITED~ forum rules ing coward .." All i said was trololol.... which is just another way to say lol which i said because its funny that someone put a sticker on a very rare and expensive coin. Someone needs to take a chill pill...
You get what you give, Dave. I am always respectful of the vast trove of knowledge available from this site, and I try to let the folks that help know that I genuinely appreciate it. Even when I stepped all over my own tongue in a post last week, I was graciously educated and voiced my apprecciation. I've not yet had any negative experience here, and if I do, well....someone's just having a bad day.
I don't care if you throw that out there for everyone to see. I was'nt going to go public with it and stoop to you and James' level. You were calling me a troll and don't back out of it now. Man up ! I was'nt the only one who noticed. It does'nt matter now anyways because I'm done with this place. And maybe you guys ought to think about being nicer to the people who are'nt as "educated" as you think you are. A newbie coming here seeking info on a coin does'nt need to be shot down and made a fool of. I've seen it far too many times coming here ... and ONLY here I might add. Carry on boys ..
1) You weren't going to go public with that comment because of the great negativity you would receive. 2) False, I never called you a troll. 3) Of course you weren't the only one who noticed my comment since I put it on the board for all members to see. 4) You did not make this post seeking advice, but more to tell us of this "cringing" story. Yes, I have seen people who are beginners and don't get straight foward responses but hey, thats life and it sure is not easy. If you can't deal with edited~ forum rules then you should not be here. As tough as this may be to hear, this is the real world and you can't expect to be friends with everyone. Remember that using "*" or other characters in an obvious cuss word does not excuse it.
This is a good start. Let's drive everyone away. Let's shut down this site. Who can we pick on next? It's rare that such negativity is necessary here, but I don't think that this is one of those times. Chill, people! I'm sorry that you are being treated like this, Dave. There really is no need for it.
I know, I was exactly quoting what he said to us. Also, why did you delete the ones where he called us A-holes? you make it seem like he didn't do anything wrong.
C'mon man, in all your posts in all different threads you're telling people to shut the F up an that you do not like their responses! It's called a public forum for a reason! You cannot expect anything in particular, you did not ask a question. You made a statement.
