My parents have three morgans, 1881, 1885, and 1921, They are in almost the same condition as the coin sf340flier is wanting help with in the thread he started, except the 1885 and 1921 are in slightly worse condition and the 1881 slightly better condition, I know it is a pain in the @#% with no picture but can you try to tell me the value of them? Mandy
Nope---without photos there is no way to give a value----now if you know how to grade and can grade them and tell us the grade then we might be able to help with a value. Speedy
If I had grade them with little experience I have, They look to be VF or XF, Although I'm leaning towards XF On the 1881.
Mandy, I take that these are all P minted? If so, there are retail and wholesale prices. The retail for 1881-p in AU-50 (equal to slightly better than mine) is around $25. The wholesale is probably around $17 or so. The retail for the 1885-p in in EF-40 (slight less than mine) is around $22. The wholesale is around $15. The retail on the 21-p in EF-40 is around $16. The wholesale maybe $14 or so. I happen to know all this because I have several pricesheets in front of me and have been bidding on these all day yesterday and today. Of course, as I found out, since I don't do a good job of grading in the field, the price value numbers are moot (for me):goof: .
If you don't see an S, O or CC (located right above the D and O in DOLLAR) on the back of the morgans they are P.
As sf340 said, if they dont have one of those marks below the eagle, it is P minted. None of those are rare dates, so they are most likely worth around 15-25 dollars each.
