Here is the latest coin I picked up. Its a Bohemain Prager Groschen, Johann I 1310-1346. The reason I really liked it is because this coin may have been in circulation during the Black Plague in the mid 1300's. I know, I know what a weirdo LOL. I have always been interested in the dark ages and medieval history, and the plague was a big part of it. I just had to have it LOL.

    Thanks for Looking!

Be sure to wash your hands. Soap is the cure for the plague. ;)

This gives a totally new meaning to "I wonder if that coin has been cleaned?"

Very cool. If you remove plague from your coins, is that considered "doctoring?"

Yikes. That was bad, but I'm leaving it. No apologies. :)

    Wow!,
Thanks for all the comments and welcome backs! It's really great to be back! I missed all of you, as I said life happens. It's VERY Nice to be home again. I'm getting ready to post a few other pick ups that I haven't shown to anyone yet. Granted they aren't as "dramatic" as the coin from the plague era but I hope you will enjoy those too. I'm getting ready to start editing them as we speak, I should have them posted this evening hopefully. I think I'm going to continue on with my Icealndic collection and start trying to find coins of historical importantance, I'm now trying to find a coin from the reign of Edward the 1st "Longshanks". While yes he was a heartless Bast@#$, he was one of the most important English Kings who also changed history. No worries Bruce, as you know my wife is a veterinarian, we have the plague under control here. Your welcome to come over for dinner anytime LOL! That goes for Iceman and Siggi too, LOL.
Thanks Again Everybody, it's GREAT to be BACK!

Yes I agree completely, I also have a coin from a Leper colony in Colombia from 1920 which is cool too. Colombia minted coins to ONLY be used in these colonies for obvious reasons. The coins were actually washed once or twice a week while they were in circulation. I think I may have posted a photo of that a while ago, I'll check.

I've heard about those leper colony coins Mark. I don't own any but they're interesting just the same. I just won a nice "S.S.Dow/1858" counterstamp on eBay an hour or so ago, so I have all my money tied up in those and my Irish political tokens. Wish I could collect more stuff, but gotta pay them pesky bills and eat...at least every other day. :D Good to see you posting again Mark, we missed you.
