I'm not huge into collecting errors, but I do have a couple of coins like this that i've saved and slabbed over the years. What would you guys say is the approx. value of an off-center like this one? Thanks!
A nice looking coin, But from what I can remeber off centers do not get that much premium unless it´s over 15% off center..........
Whats the reverse look like? Is it truely off-center or simply a misaligned die? Either way, I don;t see the coin going for more than $20 on a really good day. This one closed at $5.14 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item256a8ab409&item=160701264905&nma=true&pt=Coins_US_Individual&rt=nc&si=iRNIxOkMGEtL1WPE2htAaeFeLRk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
Yeh, the reverse is off in the opposite direction of the obverse. The ebay coin you listed referenced is almost exactly the same. Thanks.
how do you put a percentage on the amount that it is off? I'm assuming there is in fact a sceintific way? Thanks!
((Measurement of the widest point of the blank portion)/(Diameter of the coin)) X 100 = % off center If you have a cent (diameter 19 mm) and the blank portion at it's thickest is 5 mm then 5/19 = .263 times 100 = 26% off-center
