Hello all. I am moving these questions to this forum, I have this same coin on another post. Anyway, I have been looking around trying to find a match for my Morgan here. I found "some" information on this coin via a cherry pickers guide. This matches closely with VAM 70. Although, my Morgan has the doubling on every number. Also, there is doubling below the date as well, I have attached a pic. If you would like more, just let me know and I'll post more angles and such. Also, on Ebay and a couple other auction sites I have seen similar date doubles on the 1880 S going from anywhere between $200 and $1,200. More info on this coin would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The more I read these posts the more I am picking up. To me, the bottom left picture (the first 8 in 1880) looks like a deteriorated die, and the bottom right picture looks like machine doubling. But I'm still new to this so I don't really know for sure.
I thought the same thing, but apparently there is a variation for this date similar to the VAM 70, but the VAM 70 is only doubled on the 18 not the entire date. So, I'm just trying to get a wider picture of what the double date is all about. If anything.
I always like VAMs Did you try sending the pictures to VamWorld, It could be a new dicoverey! There are always new one for them to add. Bob
I have not, that is a great Idea. I'll put some picks together for vamworld this evening and see if I actually do have a new discovery.:hail:
