Weird ATM Withdrawal.

So, I stopped off at the ATM this morning, to do a withdrawal for $300.

Imagine my surprise when ALL of the notes that popped out of the machine were series 1996, and series 1999 $20's. Now, these days, it's not unusual to see maybe one, or two of these style bills mixed in with the current colorized notes when taking money from the ATM....but to have the entire withdrawal consist of them, is just odd to me.
I haven't seen this many of these notes in a large withdrawal for about 10 years.

Most of them show signs of circulation wear, have teller stamps, etc, and are definite spenders.
However, there are three '96's that I plucked out of the lot (an AE-B, an AI-A, and an AL-D) that are quite nice, and would probably grade AU, or slightly lower.
The AL-D note even still has the embossing from the seals and serials on the reverse side!

Overall, not an earth shattering find, and, as I said, most of the notes are spenders, but still kind of neat.

Here is a pic of the lot:

Definitely a little unusual. My guess is someone deposited a large sum of those bills at some point and they ended up all being strapped together and put in the ATM in that order. I used to work at a bank, and sometimes people would go into their safe deposit box and come out with a strap of bills that had been in there for a number of years and deposit them.

    ^Thanks for the response, Camaro.

You know, I was wondering to myself how something like this could happen, and your theory is as good as any that I can come up with.
I figured that they were either in somebody's SDB, or somebody's dresser drawer for a number of years, and recently deposited.

I'm just glad that they weren't all small head notes. I'd be inclined to save more of them if they were, and I really do need the majority of them for spending money!

    :D

Actually, when I was working at the bank...some guy brought in a bunch of cash (like several thousand dollars) in old small head $20, $50, and $100 bills. They were all 1960s from what I could tell. I didn't get a chance to look through them before they were all gone. But, on my salary I couldn't have afford them anyway.

I'm a sucker for those old small head notes.

I'd be buying those things out of my till all the time, if I worked at a bank. Probably a good thing that I don't, because I'm sure I'd come across some that I couldn't save, which would bug me.
