Well, I'm working on grading Lincoln Cents, so I wanted to see what you guys thought of this one. This is the first "key(ish)" Lincoln Cents that I ever bought-I got it when I was about 14. Anyway, I'm trying to grade it myself and see how accurate my young grading ability is. So, I what do you think? I was thinking VF range but I could be way off.

It is way better than VF...Try AU50 to 55. The Obverse is that easily.

    I'd grade it XF.

VF---that coin could go no higher---too much detail worn off to go to XF or better.

I am going to have to go with VF35. Only because of the wear on the wheat stalks and the jaw area on the obv.

I would go EF-40, but a net of VF-35 because there look to be a lot of little scratches on the reverse.
    Nice coin all in all.

EF-40. The bow tie and ear are well defined and the wear on the high points is not very heavy, at least not down to VF. Nice looking coin.

I think that coin would grade a vf-35.

Look again, I think you missed the flattened wheat grains on the reverse and the flatness of the cheek/beard. It's nice, but AU? It is well struck (look at the hair) so any loss of detail is wear and i think this has more than an AU amount of wear.

I think I'd grade it vf35 or xf40. I very nice coin indeed.

I just looked at the obverse quickly, my bad...How about a XF40-45??

Interesting to see the variety of opinions here and very nice to see the civil tone in which they are presented. I think I'll chime in that the VF grade seems reasonable, although I'm sure I am less experienced by an order of magnitude vs. everyone else here.

Thanks for posting nice large photos that I can see without my glasses!

I'd go VF30, wear on cheek and jaw, hair shows details, bow tie and ear show clearly but worn. Lins on wheat stalks fully detailed, slightly worn. (ANA Grading Guide 6th Ed.)

I would say the cent is a Vf 35.

What are the dark marks near the N and O? Corrosion or otherwise? If a person were to send this to be graded by PCGS or NGC I would be concerned about it coming back in a "body bag" A very nice wheatie either way

    Different grades

Got no idea what grade that coin is because the picture isn't showing up on my computer. However, scrolling through the answers, I find it interesting how many people, who I assume are fairly well informed on coins think the same coin grades differently, from VF-20 to AU-50, I think i'm gonna start a thread about this...

I'd be careful about sending as well....
