Alright coiniacs, obverse shows crescent shape that matches the size of a quarter. Reverse shows nothing. The right side of the crescent has features a bit muted, like a grease strike. Right side is also lower. That is to say the crescent line is raised. Make sense? Do not have a weight, my scale takes batteries that no one carries and have them on order. Feels right though. Anyone want a stab at it? Thanks for looking, Michael
Meaning a layer from another quarter fell on to the planchet and was then struck? And then the dreaded question... how desirable? Michael
Yes, this is what happened. As far as value goes, an uncirculated example should be worth around $125. Yours appears to have experienced considerable wear, which would greatly lower its market value. Still, I should think it would bring about $45 on eBay.
Thanks guys for all the input, it is appreciated. Not a bad find for the change jar eh? Keep your eyes peeled, it could be on eBay soon. Keep looking, they're out there, Michael
