I am looking to see if anyone who collects National Bank Notes can tell me if there are notes from a Bank called Dixie Savings Bank (New Orleans,LA)? One of my step-sister's relatives founded that bank. I'd like to get her a note. Any help is appreciated, noodle
Are you perhaps making a reference to the famous $10 note from which the term " Dixie " was derived ?
If the bank is called "Dixie Savings Bank", without the word "National" in the title, then it isn't a National Bank and couldn't have issued National Bank Notes. It might have issued obsolete notes, though, if it existed before 1865. You'd need a different catalog to check for those.
ok, thanks guys. My sister said that her grandparents founded the bank and it existed in the depression in New Orleans. I was hoping that they might have issued a National and I was going to surprise her with one. It was actually Dixie savings, but was likely a Savings and loan and not a bank. It was worth a try and I knew that I'd get the answer here. If anyone has any idea of something close, please let me know. Thanks again!
