if you look in the left corner there is a large chip missing. could this be a minting error? Half of her flag is missing so are two of the stars. On the reverse it seems to be smooth? There is also a "hole" in the coin, but surly that just a worn mark. Can anyone give me insite? This is the first coin iv ever bought so i am super excited :) coin1.jpg coin2.jpg

No, that's a hole, the coin is holed, and is worth melt or a little more due to said hole.

As for your chip missing, I'd need better pics to determine what that is.

Worth melt? What does that mean?

Melt. It's value is probably that of it's silver content, maybe with a slight premium.

The hole may have been made by driving a nail through the coin. It used be common practice to nail a coin above a door opening for good luck. You coin may have been used as a good luck piece at someone's house.

I think he is talking about the void area from 12:00 to 3:00 that is taking out two stars and part of the Liberty cap (flag as he called it)
