Well, here's one that sold for $1800: http://www.icollector.com/1978-1-Eisenhower-Dollar-Struck-Off-Center-MS65-ANA_i5922201
Oh wow thanks a lot. My father was a dice dealer for forty years. In those days they would let dealers buy coins they wanted at face value. So this was definitely a good investment. Not to mention it was on my mantle during hurricane Katrina my house was leveled. When I returned I dug thru the rubble and found it in between two bricks talk about a needle in a haystack.
That's a nice story. I'd say it is struck 45% off center. I seriously don't think it'll reach $1800, but it is definitely a nice piece. Oh, and Welcome to Coin Talk! :welcome:
You have a valuable error coin Welcome to the Forum. Don’t clean it. I will repeat that - Don’t clean it. If it needs to be conserved, then you should have it conserved by a professional company like NCS. Only handle the coin by the edge. Never touch the front or back surfaces as this will impair the grade of the coin. High grade coins that are not impaired sell for much more money than impaired coins. Here is a previous thread at CoinTalk where similar coins have been posted. http://www.cointalk.com/t50551/ If you plan to keep the coin, it should promptly be put inside of a coin holder designed to preserve the coin. If you plan to sell the coin, then let us know & we can provide advice on getting it slabbed & sold.
