Hello all. As I am going through and sorting all my world coins, I have found that more than a few of my coins are not listed. Either there is one variety of a coin that isn't there (ie my bi-metallic Thailand 10 Baht from 1994, if I'm remembering the date right) or one year in a series of years seems to be unlisted. I'm hoping that because they are omitted from Krause it does not indicate that they are counterfeits. I imagine with such a large number of world coins, that it's inescapable that some would be missed. By the way, I have the 2004 edition of 1901-Present. -Aimee

Ya thats right. Krause is not perfect.. I feel that it is useful for collection of world coins in general only. If you are specific about a particular country, it'd be always better to refer a special catalogue about that country..
I've referred several editions of Krause and its my personal opinion that of late, the Krause is not that accurate on minor varieties and rarities.
It's not fair to pinpoint Krause on minor varieties and such. You MUST get reference books regarding about the field that you are studying. The only real purpose Krause have is to give you a rough idea of what you might have. Otherwise, you have this great forum to ask
The 2003 edition was a mass of errors and omissions and they are still 'cleaning up' after that debacle. They switched that year to a digital format of printing and publishing and had to reenter all of the data with a small and inexperienced staff. It's getting better but with such a huge amount of info it is difficult to weed out all the errors at once.
