    251,600,000 rolls of pennies?
    -or-
    62,900,000 rolls of nickels?
    -or-
    25,160,000 rolls of dimes?
    -or-
12,580,00 rolls of quarters or half dollars?

Well, you can if you win the drawing for the Powerball tonight, and you live in a state that doesn't have an income tax. The jackpot is at $325,000,000 with a lump sum payout of $202,900,000. After federal taxes, that's approximately $125,800,000!

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

So nice, I bought 1,000 tickets.
Would like to hit the jackpot, but will be satisfied with 2 million.

Some schmuck will win it and be broke in 2 years. I can't recall where I read it but they say more than half of the big jackpot winners are broke in a matter of years.

I don't really play the lottery. When I have a better chance of getting hit by lightning on a sunny cloudless day, then it's not even worth my time to stop at the local store to spend the few bucks I could spend on something else. :thumb:

    That's because...........Once a schmuck, always a schmuck.

A few years ago, a doctor in Orlando won something like $250 million on the Powerball, and he gave it all to charity. He must have one heck of a medical practice!

Or he's just comfortable with his current income.

That's one reason I likely don't play, I'm good with my current income. Although occasionally my wife will pick up tickets, if I did win the lottery, a huge portion would end up going to charity. Of course I'd put away enough for easy retirement, buy a few things I'd like to have, take some nice vacations but I don't need lotto jackpot millions to be happy.

That's what I've actually found odd myself. If you already have enough money or are rich already, why play the lottery? I never understood seeing that person who drives up in a $80,000.00 car at the local convenience store just to buy some lotto tickets and scratch off's.

Some people are just plain greedy. My first boss from a jewelry company played the lotto on a daily basis. He is a billionaire, has two houses, two cars, boat and all...
I'm happy the doctor donated the money instead of keeping it.

As I always have, I'll play when pot odds dictate a call. :)

With the recent doubling of the cost, that's no longer the case with a jackpot this size (which, to be honest, is going to be fairly commonplace now)

I wouldn't search any of them. :) Last week got $4 in pennies from step mother and father - just dumped them in my change jars for my nephews. Did not even search them for wheaties.

I would much rather live the American dream, and work hard for my money than win it in a lottery. Have you ever heard of the curse of the lottery? 90% of lottery winners continue to play the lottery, the other 10% end up facedown in a gutter in las vegas.
