I got this 1924 D standing liberty quarter today in a trade. I traded a 1898 Morgan in MS condition (not too valuable) for this beauty and a Walking Liberty half.
I definitely think I got the better end of the deal but my friend is interested more in Dollars and Bullion then smaller denominations so he also got what he wanted.
    What do you guys think?
    I was thinking F-12 to VF-20 grade.

Even though the coin has been cleaned, you did OK in my opinion (as long as the Morgan was low end MS). I know a few won't like this SLQ because it has that "washed out" look (though your photos may be "off" color wise). My two favorite coins are SLQs and Walkers, so I would have made the trade any day of the week.

The Morgan wasn't even $50 so I didn't hesitate on the trade.
I don't think it was cleaned, he found it medal detecting and has had it for over 10 years.
He obviously washed/brushed the dirt off but that's about it. Why do you say cleaned?

I'm no good at grading, but nice coin. I really like the SLQs. I picked up a 1927-S not long ago, in similar condition. Unlike so many others these days, I'm not at all concerned with the bullion values. I value coins for for their history and what I like to collect.

Washing or brushing is cleaning, and there appears to be some hairlines on the right side of the coin. There's still some residual dirt on the obverse, so I'm not saying harshly cleaned, though others may. Regardless, I like the coin; could you post a photo of the Walker?

Fair enough, I understand what you're saying. It might even be the cover as it's the same he's had since he dug it up and very beat-up.
Uhm the walker is very common 1944 I think, but I'll snap a pic in a few.
It has an odd fading on the LL in dollar. Only those two letters have faded.

The Walker is nice too... I'm thinking the color of your photos are off and the coins actually look better in hand. The missing "LL" could be the result of a grease filled die, a minor "error" that adds little or no value (however, on eBay, this coin might fetch a premium).

I think its the room because of artificial lighting and its dark. Thanks for the comments though.

Hey ,FT, take a look on your Walker about where the box is in this pic and see if you can see the designers initials.

You might have accidentally cherrypicked a good variety. Unless the initials are missing because of the grease filled die also.

Nice catch d.t.; I didn't even notice that. The OP's trade may have just become sweeter.

Ah, so that's a grease fill, not wear. Thanks for the information.
I removed it from the holder and took a closer picture and you can barely recognize the W, it is in fact a filled die.

You guys got me excited. But now that it's out of that dirty holder it's a much more beautiful coin.
