My wheat cent collection

Hi everyone,my wheat cent is almost complete. I am just missing the key dates.
The following are the ones i need:
1909-S VDB
1911-D
1911-S
1912-D
1912-S
1913-S
1914-D
1922-D
1931-S

Otherwise i have all the coins from 1909-1958!!!!
Once i fill in the missing wheat cents, i need to work on the momorials!

unless you really know and trust your dealer, I'd go with a tpg on the 09svdb and the 31s

 

Nice job with the collection. Looks like it is really coming along well. I've got a few 1911-D's and a couple extra 1922-D's lying around, so if you ever want 'em, you know where to find me.

 

Matter of fact, I wouldn't buy a 1909S-VDB, 14-D and even a 31-S UNLESS it was graded by the top TPG's. There are just too many altered (1944-D Lincoln cent to look like a 14-D), added mint mark (1909 VDB with the added "S"), and counterfeit specimens floating around...some of them VERY WELL done.

MIDAS is so right about the key date coins be sure you know who you are dealing with.There are a lot of people out there who would love to cheat you out of your money. And if you do get a tpg thanks to midas you know who not to go to.

 

Just curious if you are collecting in an Album like the Whitman Classic there would be slots for the 22 Plain and 55DD. Hope your not putting coins in those folders with the slots and backing with glue on them like the cheap Whitman folders. By your list sounds like you have an 09S too. Nice collection so far.
As to the key date coins, as already said, if buying only go for the ones that have been TPG graded and authenticated. Just to many fakes out there. However, if you go to coin shows and get to know some really great dealers they usually can help you with a raw key coin that is not a fake.
If you like that set of coins you may want to invest in a coin book called Looking Through Lincoln Cents. It explains just about anything you want to know about those coins.
If buying unslabbed key dates I wouldn't worry to much about the 31S though. Way to many real ones in high grades out there for a very small amount of money. Way back in the 30's people saw the low mintage and hoarded many of them as soon as they hit the streets.
