    When you get boxes are the rolls in those clear plastic wrappers or are they machine wrapped in paper? All of the boxes I've been getting have been in the clear wrappers. Perhaps it makes a difference in the supplier and where the coins have come from?

    Sorry to go off on another tangent, but since we're already on the subject of acronyms what does CWR mean? I couldn't find it in the Numismatic Acronyms thread and not sure what it means. I've seen it used quite frequently in this thread and it would be nice to know. Thank you!

    I'm new to CT, but I "think" it means "Customer Wrapped Roll"?

    Am I correct longtimers? :hail:

    Picked up a 1967 and a 1918 worn half from teller today. Oldest half I've found.

    Just had time to stop in one bank and ask for halves - nothing doing there
    Got gas and paid with $7.00 in halves along with FRN's and the guy mentioned how he was going to buy them from his till. I told him I had plenty more where those came from and he said bring them in. I guess I know where I'm getting gas from now on.

    BWR = bank wrapped roll
    CWR = customer wrapped roll
    roosie = roosevelt dime
    walker = walking liberty half dollar
    skunk = no finds
    DCA = Dollar cost average

    there are 50 rolls in a bank box of any denomination:

    halves box $500
    quarters box $500
    dimes box $250
    Nickels box $100
    pennies box $25

    I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, but my brain freezes when I try to start a list!

    It'll be nice when we have the forum and can start a sticky for this

    NOS, all of my wheat pennies come from BWR rolls. i don't really think it matters who you get them from, but that's just me.

    I like the CWR's when i do pennies b/c you find a lot more oddities like dimes and foreign coins

    I just went to a Wells Fargo that I don't visit too often and asked to buy two boxes of pennies. First the teller asked if I called in my order (I was taken aback by this, never been asked this before from a branch) then she asked if it was for a business. I said no, it is for personal use. She said there is a charge to sell boxes, I was again taken aback. I asked how much and she looked it up and said I would be charged $15 to buy two boxes of pennies ($7.50 a box!!). She then asked if I still wanted to buy them! I told her I would have to be high on crack cocaine to pay that and took back the $50 bill I laid out and left. Three other branches that I've been to have been happy to sell me boxes of coins without a problem.

    I was going to ask about protocol for going into a bank and asking for boxes of pennies, dimes, quarters, etc. I'm assuming you don't need to have an account at a bank to ask get boxes of coins to search through (seeing that most posters ITT go to several different banks). $7.50 for each box of pennies is ludicrous though. I suppose that banks have different policies concerning this topic. I'm going to the bank on Saturday and I'm going to tackle my first two boxes of pennies.

    In most cases you will need an account to order and/or buy boxes. THey will normally sell you any CWR's they have on hand though even if you don't have an account. I think many of us open up an account with a minimum balance and a few different banks. (I have 2 that I use for searching) When you think about it one account will open a lot of doors if they have several branches in the area.

    I have like 6 or 7 bank accounts, LOL. It's really helpful to have an account, even if there's no more than $50 (My usual initial deposit) in it.

    3 boxes of halves;

    1 - '62-D Bender, 3 proofs, one of which was an ender.
    2 - 3 40%ers, one of which was also an ender.
    3 - 1 40%er.

    3 boxes of dimes

    1 - 3 Roosies
    2 - 2 Roosies
    3 - 1 Roosie.

    $80 CWR halves, including $70 from the bank I scored bigtime at last week - 10 40%ers

    Not a bad day. Got two boxes of nickels too. Two boxes of halves are arriving at PNC tomorrow, will have to do a cash-in on my lunch then run there to get 'em.

    I got a call from my bank who ordered a box for me for next week. Apparently, they got it early. Ok whatever. I got it and sat in the parking lot to open it (couldn't even wait to get home). I noticed an ender so I opened that first. 5 40%ers! I couldn't believe it. Then I spotted another ender. 2 coins. Another one which turned out to be a double ender. Opened it and there were two on one end (triple ender?) I kept finding 2, 3 or 4 coins a rolls. Unreal.

    Grand spanking total? 61 40%ers and 1 64. Single best box EVER.

    I just got back from getting another box. I saw two enders but my husband says this is his box for when he gets off at 11 tonight. So to keep me busy, I started weighing the rolls. One roll weighed a lot more than the others so of course I opened it. I can't wait until 11! It had a 64 and a 67. He's going to be so mad at me. I found about 8 more rolls that weigh more but I'm going to be the good wife and leave them for him.

    64 coins in one day so far! UNBELIEVABLE!

    VACookey, please tell me those boxes were from BAC! Sick find, I swear people are finding more and more silver over time when it should be the opposite. 60 coins in 1 box, absurd.

    In the new forum (if there is ever a new forum), would there be any easy way to track total # of coins searched and silver found, for the entire board? Like just a simple input and every time you search a box you enter +500, and then + # of silver found. It would be nice to track by month to see the silver % found as compared to previous months.

    Had 2 great boxes in January. First box had 8 40%'ers and one NIFC. Second box same exact results with 8 40%'ers and a surprise! I open up the BWR and see it is not a complete roll of halves. I think I'm out 49 cents, but looking closer I see it is a Sacagawea dollar. Too bad it wasn't gold :foot-mouth: still have no idea how that made it into a roll.

    Today not so good. 2 boxes ALL SKUNK!!! What a dissappointment. I like at least finding one to keep the spirit alive, especially after everyones AWESOME finds with over 30 in a box!
