oops.. forgot the big one. 99 is 62 98 is 65 00 is 66 ... took awhile to complete it. Searched for years for the 99... found nearly a roll of 98's and 00's in that time and then finally broke down and got one at a reasonable price.
In all honesty, my guess was 64 / 65. However, I cheated and all I can say is you got screwed - royally.
On a good day 65/66 on a bad day 64/65. I'd gladly take either one because a strong crisp strike is so hard to find. Mine is so weak it's embarrasing.
I would send it in to be regraded. Unless that thing has zero luster, it is under graded and probably by a lot. You go to shows I am sure. Have some one else look at it in hand and see if they do not agree.
That is how I have come to rationalize it, rlm. I've seen much better luster but I didn't feel it would be held back more than a grade, if at all. The grades, in order, are 64 and 63, for those wondering. Lance.
Top -63 Bottom - 64 NICE NICE NICE COINS! This is a TOUGH date! Where the heck do you manage to find these well-struck tough dates?
I love the reverse toning on this one. Still haven't found any radioactive toners, but I imagine one day I'll get lucky. Do proofs tone more vividly than business strikes?
Wacha think ? Going through some of my old wheats I saw this odd print of the ONE on this 1939. Is this cause from die inclusion ? Dave
