If you're selling U.S. coins on eBay, when is the best time to have an auction end? In other words, when is there most likely to be the most viewers/activity? From you're experience, I want to know when is the absolute best DAY of the week and the best TIME of the day for an auction to end. I want to get the best results possible.
I'd say definitely Saturday or Sunday probably in the early evening. Seems like a lot of sellers end their auctions around these times. Good question. I have several items I'm listing in ebay and I have to think about the best time to end the auctions and if international bidders are a consideration.
timing I have read it both ways. some people say weekdays, and some say weekends. I usually end my (non-coin) auctions on sunday night and have had decent results. My franklin commem were acually ending mid-day durring the week, but they were selling so fast it didn't matter.
I wonder the same? I end mine around 1pm on a wed or thursday usually. I figure since I am in California 1pm people are still at work not working and in NY it would be about 4 and they would be at work and not in commute time yet. I also base this on when I have time to go online. Weekends I dont even touch a computer, im never home. But this is just my .02
I would end my auctions on Sunday around 10 P.M. eastern time. This gives enough time on the West coast and it's not too late on the east coast.
Same here. It's the only time of the week I ever see Ebay lagging, which says that the most customers are browsing then.
If you're depending on snipers scooping an item in the last few seconds, they'd probably have some sort of automated program so it wouldn't matter as much. When I sold model trains on eBay (just surplus stuff), I did a five day auction starting Monday or Tuesday night and ending Saturday or Sunday night. I generally avoided holiday weekends.
DO NOT underestimate the importance of ending your auctions at the busiest eBay times! The vast majority of searches on eBay are done using the "ending soonest first" method, and the buyers in those heavy periods are much more likely to view your auction (and by extension bid) if your auction is one of the first on the list. This means that during the school year you need to have your listings end on weekends in the evenings at times balanced so that east and west coast bidders are on line en masse. Then during the summer people spend their weekends outside much more regularly. Therefore you need to list your coins so they end in the evenings with monday and tuesday evenings being the best. There are companies that you (as a seller) can contract to monitor your eBay listings and then they send you the resultant data, like which keywords people used when the found your auction as well as when your auction had the most viewings. If you are a serious eBay seller, then that sort of research pays for itself.
I agree here I always end my auctions between 10 and 11 pm eastern time. You seem to get better late bids and more money that way. madspec
