To late. Already had a mild heart attack. Threads like this should come with a warning before folks open them. When the First Lady program came out, I could not wait for the Liberty issue to come out. I actually wanted to do the set. When I figured the cost I learned I could buy a house for about the same cost. With the rise in gold I'm glad I didn't. It's a cool coin. Here is a quick scan of the proof.
I know the uncirculated issues look like they have more upside potential (lower mintages), but I just love the look of a deep cameo gold proof. Since the Jefferson Liberty isn't a low-mintage issue, maybe one day I'll have one of my own.
In 2007 you could pick these up from the mint at $410.95 and $429.95 for the proof. At the time folks thought that was really high.
Shoot, I'd a thrown it back at the worker. I wouldn't have let them try to pass off something that doesn't even have a denomination on it. They sure saw you coming.
Walked into my local shop and this one was sitting on the counter. I'm good customer so I asked and he said "melt".....I said I'm on my way to the bank, be right back. LOL I got lucky, I got this shortly after issue for MELT, $440 at the time.
If you did it and could dump them now, you'd be ok. All my Gold coins were stolen by the ex-wife. The stupid women is sitting on a fortune now. Ruben
