Ok next question: How long should I let them soak in the acetone? Is there a time that is too long?

    Depends.

If you're wanting to clean circulated coins that will never be worth more than face (or melt), try cleaning them with whatever you want. I know people discourage cleaning, but if it's a modern circulated coin, there are so many of these, I don't see the problem with experimentation. Now if it was something older, I would discourage cleaning (unless you're soaking in acetone).

Fact is: simple destilled H2O will not harm a coin. Even when warmed . just do not rub or brush. soaking a coin in water will not harm it.
assume it is silver or copper: even the use of anything softer than the metal itself will not harm it.
excample: Hawthorns are frequently used to clean the "nooks and Crannies" of circulation coins. the tips are hard, but will not harm a circulated coin. It is being done evry day with success.
it helps if the coin is soaked first for a few hours in either warm H2O or grape seed or olive oil.
there are other methods, but caution is # 1.
Bad Thad should chime in here....( hope i have the name right)

Maybe it shows some hair lines if it does it will not grade. You should take a closer look when it gets back.
