Numbers, You might as well tell people on Where's George? that the $2 bill will be redesigned with the next currency redesign. Whether it will be Kodachrome or not, remains to be seen, because although a few people at the BEP confirmed to me today, that the $2 bill is in the plans for the next currency redesign, they have NO idea what kinds of designs are under way as of yet. However, the BEP website does say that the next new generation of redesigned currency will follow the release of the current new $100 bill, that makes it sound like its not that far off, even if the $2 bill is not the first denomination to undergo the redesign. However, that probably DOES explain WHY they are only printing enough of the current style $2 bills to last only until 2014 this fiscal year. Because they want the supply of the old design exausted by the time the new design comes out. Kind of like how they had to mint more Susan B. Anthony Dollar Coins in 1999 before the Sac came out. They may NEED some $2 bills but are not ready for the new design to be released.
No idea about the new design. Just an anecdote, did you know that if you visit Monticello, that they give you change in 2 dollar bills?
I've never been to the Monticello, but I have heard about that for many years that they give out $2 bills there, as change. Hey, is there anywhere that gives out Kennedy halves as change? (Not anywhere that I know of, for sure, but someone else might know more than me)
