well my friend either has a bad memeory or not but he said his grandmom when she died gave him and his brother uncirculated dollar coins from 1918 and 1929 but in my red book none were made in those years
There were no dollar coins minted between 1905 and 1920, inclusive. Minting resumed in 1921, and continued irregularly until 1935. None between 1929 and 1933, inclusive.
In an episode of "The Simpsons", Grandpa Simpson claims to have a cigar box full of 1918 silver dollars he'd caught when John D. Rockefeller flew over in a zepplin, tossing them to folks below.
Possibly she was thinking of the years she got them, and not the years they were minted... or just mis-remembered the dates. 1918 would have been a Morgan dollar... but none were minted between 1905 and 1920; 1929 would have been a Peace dollar, but none were minted between 1929 and 1933.
If they are dated what you said they aren't US Dollars....they might be from another country or they are just plan fake. Speedy
Jako - we are as sure about the facts posted as it's possible to be. Unless you're a solipsist, believe us.
That is a possibility, halves were minted in both 1918 and 1929... would be Walking Liberty halves if so.
