Starting bid is $59.99??? What are people even bidding on? $60 to flip a coin for Mike Piazza rookie card, which BTW is not as valuable as many would think.
The reason why this gimmick wasn't successful was that all prizes represented never touched the winning bid value, not by a long shot. If he would have added something of double the auction bid value, that would be a winner. The seller would then have to find a way to do a fair and square coin flip.
If you thought that was strange, I'm even more confused by this auction from the same seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Radar-1881-...19?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3a6fc1aeb7

You can pay 10,000 to buy a riddle for near worthless prizes, but guaranteed a really bad morgan. Or you can buy a coin flip for "valuable" uncirculated 2011 nickles! Oh the possibilities to burn cash without making the treasury angry!
