Did anyone talk about sealing your coins in metal boxes or pipes an burying them. That's what my great grandfather did with his Krugerrands and silver coins.

My great grandma found a 20 dollar gold piece in a pipe where a old 1800s hotel burn down. She sold it for 100 dollars a while ago :(

How about making fake body bags and putting random coins in them, labeled, "Replica, No Silver, No Value" or something similar

    For the record..

.I live in a nice town 99.9999 % of the people in my town are good people..Crime has never been a problem

Some darn rotten gang moved in here to operate not live...hopefully they get identified soon.

Also I just started collecting again, 90% of the coins in my collection are coins I took out of circulation when I was a child..As you know no matter how cool the seemed to me 30 years ago they still ain't worth squat...not even Realy worth the time to put them on eBay

Wheat penny's...buffalo nickels...some merc dimes...Kennedy halves and Suzzy bs that I got from the bank face value...(I couple of the halves did turn out to be 40%) silver what 7 bucks. Yay but like I said, I do love them

I was out of the hobby at like 12 or 13 and just got back in...if there was any real value there they would be protected...

I also have two kids in day care so even the new additions are from the poor man shelf

Once anyone enters my home uninvited martial law has been declared. I will blow someone's head (or kneecap) off and do 10 years in jail for it to protect my family.

I would invest in a safe that you can bolt down to the floor. Best place to hide them would be in a place where they wouldnt think to look like idk, the refrigerator? lol idk. My grandma used to hide her money in the freezer :)

First two places a burglar would look as that is a common place to hide valuables.

Another question to consider when trying to minimize the risk of being the victim of a break-in by a criminal, drug addict, gang, etc., is how does the apartment or house look like profile-wise? Upscale, wealthy, or a typical middle or lower income place where people are living paycheck to paycheck? Is the car a give-away?

There are loads of ways to minimize your chance of being a victim, mainly by being a poor target, not admitting having collections, etc. to the wrong people. Like the coin dealers who have been targets, there is simply no way thieves do not know those people are rich targets; their customers, though may be a different story. Get your mail at a po box or UPS store box, etc..

Posted signs have been used as evidence in legal cases against the homeowners that posted the signs.

[i.e. you post a "beware of dog sign" & it might be shown in court that you knew that you had a vicious dog].
