Just wondering if anyone can tell where this coin is from? At first I thought it looked a little like Thai but the numbers, or what I assume are numbers, under the head look Arabic to me. Is it possibly Egyptian?

    Thanks

Yes, thank you. I was just going to post that I've narrowed it down to Iran, just trying to figure out which one now lol

Looks like 5000 dinars (5 kran), but I might be wrong and its 1000 or 2000 dinars. If you could tell the weight that would narrow it. The coin is 90% silver.

Thanks. It appears the 'year' is 1331 which = 1912 if I am correct. The 1331 was confusing me... I will have to see what the weight is.

    It's actually 1341.

    Edit: And it's indeed a 5000 dinars.

Thanks Numismat! I didn't pay good enough attention and just thought the 3rd number was a messed up 3. How can you tell that it is a 5000? I'm looking the 'Catalog of World Coin' pictures and the 500, 1000, 2000, & 5000 designs look the same! Other than size/weight of course...Thought it doesn't appear a 500 was produced in 1341 (1921).

It shows in the legends beneath the lion.
