First of all, I'd like to request that persons reading this would refrain from looking at following posts in order to make an unbiased judgement. Hi fellow coin lovers, I just purchased this coin from a dealer, raw. I was wondering if everyone could give it a grading and determine whether or not it has full bands. Thank you! apologies for amount of pictures.
No doubt on the UNC portion but I'm not that familiar with how much slack TPG's will give you on the FB side of things. The top bands when looking at the reverse right side up the middle band and even the top band don't quite make it all the way to the end. Is that enough to keep it from being a Full Band? Some say all the bands have to be uninterrupted and defined (split from each other) to be FB or FSB other sites I've read say only the middle bands. Middle only then yes but if the top and lower bands are included then I would say no due to the aforementioned interruption.
I would say MS 64 FSB. The two parallel marks on the obverse prevents me from comfortably going any higher. Nice Merc regardless though! Oh! And welcome to the forum!
Right off the back great mercury, nice something worth the proper grade , yes it has full ban lines on the rev and full wing lines on the odverse. And its a nearly problem free coin deservi.ng the grade ms65+ ms 66 .. but I'm going to be honest and say realistically it would grade ms66 .. get it certed fast...
thanks for all your opinions. I plan to sell this coin. should I get it graded, or will the pictures alone be enough to intice a buyer into buying this coin. if you think I should get it graded, how should I go about that? as a newcomer to the coin collecting scene, I'm not registered with pcgs. should I register, just to submit a single coin? and I know it can be derived by the grades you all have given, but how much would you say this coin is worth? thanks everyone. also, to dannic113: I believe there is nothing wrong with my top bands, I've looked at "perfect" bands and my top bands seem to be perfectly okay, to me. can you elaborate on why you think the top bands are incomplete?
I dissent, I see what clearly looks like blending of the bands on the far left side. Furthermore, I can't grade the coin from those photos because they show no luster at all. What lighting method did you use when taking the images? Here is what an MS65 Full Band Mercury Dime looks like.
