Bought some very nice large currency today from a young 90 year old . I would not have expected a counterfeit in the mix, but there was a confederate $100 Calhoun 1862 note that is well worn to a fair condition. Real it should have been blank on the reverse, but instead front and back were the same with "front" side showing on both.
Both sides had the lightly over print red orange HUNDRED and all areas one one expect on a real note, but one side had a few things different from the other such as the way the date was written. Thought two may have been glued together front side showing, but that doesn’t appear to be so. Even if real this note would not be worth much but now, I am curious if any member has seen a fake with both sides displaying the front side. If so,where were they sold if known? All the fakes I have seen prior always looked like the real note-blank on back. Need to solicit knowledge on this one to satisfy the curious side..Thanks

It did turn out to be two $100 notes glued together. I was able to get them apart and both are in fair condition. One $100 was dated on the front Sept. 1862 (The Calhoun style) and on its back it had hand written "Issued at Knoxville Nov. 18 1862 and was hand signed by J.G.M. Ramsey under his signature was the hand written word Depository. Stamped higher on the back was Interest paid January 1864 at Richmond. Any help on value is much appreciated. Apparently Ramsey was a very famous person

Two for the price of one ;) If they were glued, you would of probably torn them to pieces trying to get them apart? Sure they weren't just stuck togather? Remember they didn't have all these fancy storage options we have today, and many used to put them in books.
For pricing you really need to check auction sites like eBay and see what they are fetching on average.

I used steam and slowly worked them loose. Took over 3 hours. The price I think may be influnced by the back signature of Ramsey. See above. Not sure how many he signed on the back of the note.
