    I sent off a 1916 D Merc. dime to PCGS and the slab came back with this notation:

    1916-D 10C
    PCGS FR02

    Well, 02 is the grade (it really shows its 90+ years!), but I'm stumped as to what the "FR" means.

    I went to the PCGS site in hopes of finding a clue but I either didn't know where to look or it isn't listed.

    Does anyone here know what "FR" might mean?

    Thanks.

    FR = Fair

    F = Fine

    Fair and Fine both start with 'F' but they both cannot be abbreviated 'F' (at least not in this context). So we abbreviate Fair as 'FR'.
