If that vertical scratch on the cheek is actually on the plastic, I'd say MS64+.

So you'd say get it graded?
I honestly can't tell atm. Lots of hairline scratches on the container.
I only paid $160 for it. Traded 6 eagles that I paid $160 for.
I looked into grading and it just seems very troublesome :/ and expensive.

Huh? Run the tip of your fingernail across the surface of the case to see if it's on the plastic or the coin. I would, but I can't reach it from here.

Honestly I wish it was that easy. I can't feel the hairline scratches but they do cast shadows on the coin and I can tell that when I tilt the coin and view from the side. I'd have to break it open to verify.
    Its in the gsa holder.

The white vertical mark is hardly a hairline, but if you can't feel it on the case, then I'll change the grade to MS62........hardly worth submitting.

By the way, the only grading service that will attribute the VAM-2 is ANACS. Someone said that they will grade them still in the GSA case. I don't know. If not, the only other grading service that will grade them in the GSA case is NGC, but they don't attribute the VAM-2.

I can only see the hairline in certain lighting. It has to be hit by light from the side. If i look at it from the right its not even there.
From the left with light hitting it and it shines into view.
I'm sure it's on the Morgan itself though as it doesn't cast a shadow.
(I can't feel the other hairline scratches either that I know for a fact are on the plastic so it wasn't an effective method of checking.. my nails are fairly thick)
Either way I'm happy to finally have a CC in my possession. Two actually, bought another one today as well.
Unless it was a MS 65, which I know for a fact it wouldn't grade, I wouldn't bother with it as the subtle changes in value between the lower Ms grades are hardly enough to trouble myself.
    Thanks for your thoughts!

Those marks look like they're on the coin and not the holder.

I'd say 62, very slim it would go 63. According to VAM World, a PCGS graded 63 84 VAM2 was listed/sold for $196.88, and if you went by Numismedia.com, the 63 is listed at $244, and the 62 is listed at $222, searching eBay I found nothing conclusive as all the completed sales for an 1884-CC VAM 2 in any MS grade, are the seller attributing and not the TPG as nothing is on the label.

I'm going to say you might have did okay on price for this one. After all, it is a CC.

Thanks BU for that wealth of information.
Yeah I was pretty happy with the price and he was willing to barter so it worked out.
