all kennedy'd from 1964-1970 cantain some silver and are worth more than face and the rooses from 1946-1964 contain silver too. All those are worth your time, also there are some errors that are worth looking for like the ones found in

    this link

    and the ones found in

    this link too.

    Good luck!

Troll was right about the silver and dates there (thanks for links-I'll use them too) But also pull anything with an 's' mintmark and any coins with lower mintages or even some keys. I don't know if your dad has any recent ones-but there might be a chance there are some keys. Best advice given here on CoinTalk for this situation:go out and buy the RedBook-don't use it as a price guide but you'll learn a lot in a short amount of time-hope this helps and good luck hunting!

    Key

A key date is generaly one with a low mintage figure, thus harder to find and more expensive.

If you make a list of the dates/mintmarks you have for the Kennedys and Roosevelts, someone here will tell you which ones could be worth a lot more than face value.

Also, you don't need the latest and greatest Red Book just for mintage figures. If you're in a pinch, a copy of a recent previous edition will do. Thalia got a freebie 2005 edition from the senior coin club (she's a junior member) and it works fine for mintages and photos of the coins.

If you're really in a pinch, larger libraries have them in reference shelves as well.

He's right! I actually like 2005 better than the 2007. Maybe just because it was first RedBook that I got.
