The US Mint doesn't sell them anymore.
Does anyone know where I can buy them by the $25 box?
Can they be bought from Mint contractors? How?
    Thanks.

I check the mint's site regularly, I don't recall them ever selling the 2012 Lincoln cent as of yet. I haven't even seen one out in circulation either.

Just keep shecking with your bank. They will get them it just might take a while. I was able to get two boxes of cents in 2010 right after they were released from a small local bank. They didn't even know we had new cents until I opened one of the rolls. I gave all of the tellers one.

I've called about 4 or 5 different banks in my area in Pennsylvania and they have all told me that they do not specifically order the current year's pennies. The banks I have called have said that they simply place an order for pennies and they get what they get. I also called the U.S. Mint and the Federal Reserve Bank in Philadelphia to try to find out when and how I can get 2012 pennies. Neither of them were able to give me any helpful information. Does anyone on this site have any further info?

That is correct, no bank that I am aware of orders specific years when they order coins. They get what they get and as far as I know you cannot order them yourself. You just have to keep checking with your local banks or find a local coin dealer who might have them in stock already. Normally when a coin dealer ends up with a box of more they will take them to the next coin show and sell rolls to the other dealers to take back to their shop. So, your local coin dealer might have them even if your local banks do not. If you do not wish to buy them and would rather get them for face value, then you will just have to wait. It’s only January, so I wouldn’t even worry about it yet. Patience is a virtue…

    Also, welccome to the forum!

    Thanks for the responses.
The reason I asked is because I want them before they are searched.

Getting bu boxes from banks is not easy- bank employees despise and loathe coin collectors. You have to have the chutzpah to say you want 5 boxes of cents- when they bring them look through the holes in the top- if they are not new and shiny you have to say "never mind I do not want them after all". There is no other way- they will not check for you or set them aside- you just have to have chutzpah and be a little rude and forceful. the 2012 boxes may hit the banks in late March.

And I just don't understand why banks would hate roll searchers .

I spent years trying the nice way with nothing coming of it-- literally years.
